How does the medication work?
Generic Alesse contains a combination of female sex hormones estrogens (Ethinylestradiol) and progestins (Levonorgestrel) Birth control effect is related to inhibiting the release of gonadotropic hormones luteinizing and follicle- stimulating hormones. By inhibiting the release of hormones the medication suppresses ovulation. Alesse also modifies the viscosity of the uterine mucous lining making the movement of spermatozoons difficult. The medication also modifies endomethrium making implantation of a fertilized ovule nearly impossible.
