How does the medication work?
Generic Lo/Ovral contains a combination of female sex hormones estrogen (Ethinyl
estradiol) and perogestin (Norgestrel). Primary contraceptive effect is associated with ovulation suppression through the inhibiting the production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormones. The medication also increases the viscosity of the cervical mucous and modifies endomethrium (reduces the possibility of implantation).

- Problems with your heart valves
- Yellowing of the eyes or skin during a prior pregnancy or oral contraceptive use
- High cholesterol
- Gallbladder disease
- Depression
- A history of heart attack or stroke
- Liver disease, such as liver failure, cirrhosis, hepatitis, or liver tumors
- Cancer
- Unexplained vaginal bleeding.
