How does the medication work?
Generic Yasmin belongs to a group of medicines called hormonal birth control pills. Yasmin contains a low-dosed combination of female sex hormones such as estrogen (ethinylestradiol) and progestin (drosperinone). Birth control effect of Yasmin is related to 3 main mechanisms:
- Suppression the release of luteinizing and follicle-stimulating. These hormone are responsible for the process of ovulation
- Increasing the viscosity of uterine mucous making the movement of spermatozoons difficult
- Endomethrium modification making the implantation of a fertilized ovule nearly impossible.
Drosperinone also possesses anti-androgenic activity and diuretic activity.

- Dermatological reactions: skin rash, hives, erythema
- Sexual functions: libido changes (decreased sexual drive)
