Active Ingredients:
- Rabeprazole
How does the medication work?
Antiulcer agent from proton pump inhibitors group. Blocks the final stage of HCl secretion lowering the content of basal and stimulated secretion, regardless of the nature of the stimulus. Has high lipophilicity, easily penetrates the parietal cells of the stomach and stays concentrated in them providing cytoprotective action and increasing the secretion of hydrogen carbonate. Does not affect the central nervous system, cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
Why is Aciphex prescribed?
- acute gastric and duodenal ulcers
- reflux esophagitis
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
- stress ulcer of GI tract
When Aciphex should not be taken?
- hypersensitivity
- pregnancy, lactation
- with caution: pediatric patients, severe renal insufficiency
What side effects are possible with the medicine ?
- nausea, constipation or diarrhea, abdominal pain, flatulence
- headache, dizziness, drowsiness, weakness
- skin rash
- increased activity of liver transaminases, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia
- pharyngitis, rhinitis, asthenia, back pain, flu syndrome, myalgia
- dry mouth, leg cramps, arthralgia, fever
- rare: decreased appetite, weight gain, depression, blurred vision, taste perversion, stomatitis, increased sweating.

Aciphex may interact with the following groups of drugs:
