How does the medication work?
Retin-A contains the active ingredient tretinoin which is endogenous retinoid metabolite of Vitamin A that binds to intracellular receptors in the cytosol and nucleus. Tretinoin works by activating three nuclear receptors (RARα, RARβ, and RARγ). These receptors modifies gene expression, subsequent protein synthesis, and epithelial cell growth and differentiation.
