How does the medication work?
The drug is an agonist of specific serotonin receptors. Stimulation of the receptors leads to an antimigraine effect. The preparation is metabolized by MAO type A.

When Rizatriptan should not be taken?
The preparation should not be taken in cases of:
- Decompensated arterial hypertension
- Ischemic heart disease
- Angina
- Myocardial infraction
- Vasospastic angina
- Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Young age prior to 18 years
What side effects are possible with Maxalt?
- CNS and peripheral nervous system: dizziness, somnolence, weakness, fatigability, headache, decreased mental capacity, insomnia, hypesthesia, tremor, ataxia, nervousness, disorientation, blurred vision, fainting
- Cardiovascular system: chest pain, increased heart rate, arterial hypertension
- Gastrointestinal tract: abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, diarrhea, dyspepsia
- Locomotor system: neck pain, muscle rigidity, feeling of heaviness and muscle constraint, weakness
- Dermatological reactions: skin erythema, increased sweating
- Other: thirst, flushing
If any of these side effects occur during the treatment seek medical attention immediately.
