How does the medication work?
Eflornithine works by irreversibly inhibiting skin ODC (ornithine decarboxylase) activity. This enzyme is responsible for the synthesis of polyamines. Clinical data shows that the inhibiting of ODC affects cells division and and synthetic functions and disturbs the rate of hair growth.
Why is Vaniqa prescribed?
Vaniqa is indicated for treatment of unwanted facial hair growth in women.
When Vaniqa should not be taken?
Vaniqa is contraindicated for patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients. The medication is intended only for external use.
Eflornithine cream should not be taken in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
The medication is used only in women, the effectiveness and safety for men was not studied.
