How does the medication work?
Evista is a selective modulator of estrogen receptors. The drug possesses a selective stimulative action on non-reproductive tissues and a suppressive action on reproductive tissues. In combination with Ca2+ preparations Evista increases the density of bony tissue of spine and femoral bone. The drug also causes the decrease of bone resorption and staying of Ca2+. Evista decreases blood cholesterol level and serosity fibrinogen.
Why is Evista prescribed?
Evista is prescribed for the treatment of:
- Osteoporosis (prophylaxis in women during post-menopause period and after hysterectomy).
When Evista should not be taken?
- Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients
- Child-bearing age, pregnancy, lactation period
- Thromboembolia, deep venous thrombosis
- Significant liver dysfunction
- Prolonged immobilization
- Caner
- Stroke or mini stroke
- Congestive heart failure
You should let your doctor know if you smoke or abuse alcohol treatment.
What side effects are possible with the medicine ?
The most common side effects of the medication are joint pain, flu-like symptoms, hot flashes, water retention, muscle spasms, headache, changes in body weight.
In rare cases the medication may cause sings of blood clots, blood stroke, vision problems, gall stones and uterine bleedings.
